Frequently asked questions about the star sign in January
How many zodiac signs are there in January?
January has two star signs: Capricorn through 19 January (starting 22 December), and Aquarius from 20 January (through 18 February). On the two cusp days, birth year and time determine the sign.
Which star sign is born on 20 January?
According to the standard calendar dates, Aquarius begins on 20 January. However, the exact moment of the transition shifts by up to a day depending on the birth year and time. So someone born on the 19th or 20 January may also be Capricorn. The only way to be sure is to calculate using the birth year and, if possible, the birth time.
Why do some lists give a different date for the January star sign?
The Sun does not change signs at the same hour every year: the transition varies by up to a day because the calendar year and the solar year are not exactly the same length. That is why calendar lists round differently. What always counts is a calculation based on the specific date of birth, including the year and, ideally, the time.
