Frequently asked questions about the August star sign
How many zodiac signs are there in August?
August has two star signs: up to 22 August it is Leo (beginning 23 July), and from 23 August Virgo begins (until 22 September). On the two cusp days, the birth year and time of birth determine the sign.
Which star sign is born on 23 August?
According to standard calendar dates, Virgo begins on 23 August. However, the transition can shift by up to a day depending on the birth year and time. Anyone born on the 22nd or 23 August could therefore also be Leo. The only way to be sure is to calculate using the birth year and, ideally, the time of birth.
Why do some lists give a different date for the August star sign?
The Sun does not change signs at the same hour every year: the transition varies by up to a day because the calendar year and the solar year are not exactly the same length. That is why calendar lists round differently. What always counts is a calculation based on the specific date of birth, including the year and, ideally, the time.
