Common questions about the December star sign
How many zodiac signs are there in December?
December has two star signs: through 21 December it is Sagittarius (starting 22 November), and from 22 December Capricorn begins (through 19 January). On both cusp days, the birth year and time of birth determine which sign applies.
Which star sign is born on 22 December?
According to standard calendar dates, Capricorn begins on 22 December. However, the exact changeover can shift by up to one day depending on the birth year and time. Anyone born on the 21st or 22 December could therefore also be Sagittarius. For certainty, calculate using your birth year and, if possible, your time of birth.
Why do some lists show a different date for the December star sign?
The Sun does not change signs at the same hour every year: the transition varies by up to a day because the calendar year and the solar year are not exactly the same length. That is why calendar lists round differently. What always counts is a calculation based on the specific date of birth, including the year and, ideally, the time.
