Beaver Moon on 24 November 2026: full Moon in Gemini, time, and meaning

By the KosmosGenie editorial team · 26 September 2026 · updated 18 October 2026 · 5 min read

The November full moon is called the Beaver Moon. In 2026, it becomes full on Tuesday, 24 November, at 3:54 p.m., in the late afternoon, before sunset. That’s good news for anyone who wants to see it: In Germany, the Moon rises between 3:15 and 3:45 p.m., so it’s already above the horizon at the moment it becomes full and remains large and bright in the sky all evening. It will also be unusually close to Earth around this time.

Astrologically, this is a full moon in Gemini, with a rare feature: The Moon is almost exactly conjunct Uranus.

When is the 2026 Beaver Moon?

The 2026 Beaver Moon becomes full on Tuesday, 24 November 2026, at 3:54 p.m. CET. On that day, the Moon rises in Berlin at 3:15 p.m. and in Munich at 3:48 p.m., while the Sun sets shortly after 4 p.m. So the best time to see it is early evening on 24 November, low in the northeast. The preceding new moon is in Scorpio on 9 November, described in New Moon on 9 November 2026.

Full moon Tuesday, 24 November 2026, 3:54 p.m. CET
Moonrise Berlin 3:15 p.m., Munich 3:48 p.m.
Best time to see it Early evening on 24 November, looking northeast
Moon sign Gemini
Sun Sagittarius
Distance About 361,000 kilometers, closest to Earth on 25 November
Before New moon in Scorpio on 9 November
After New moon in Sagittarius on 9 December

If you can’t make it on 24 November, you’ll see almost the same show on the 23rd and 25 November: The Moon will be 99 percent illuminated and rise at 2:45 p.m. on the 23rd and around 4 p.m. on the 25th.

Why is it called the Beaver Moon?

The name Beaver Moon comes from North America: In November, beavers prepare their lodges for winter, and in the past, this was the last chance to set traps before the waterways froze. In Europe, the November full moon is more often called the Frost Moon or Fog Moon, because the first lasting frosts and thick fogs arrive in these weeks.

English full moon names have also caught on here in recent years, especially through weather apps and the news. Find out what other names there are and where they come from in Full Moon Names: From the Wolf Moon to the Cold Moon.

Is the 2026 Beaver Moon a supermoon?

By the broad definition, yes: The full moon on 24 November 2026 is about 361,000 kilometers from Earth, and just over 30 hours later, on 25 November at 10:02 p.m., the Moon reaches its closest point to Earth at about 359,000 kilometers. This makes it look noticeably larger and brighter than an average full moon. It won’t be the biggest full moon of the year, though: That will be the Christmas Eve supermoon, which will come even closer, to less than 357,000 kilometers, on 24 December.

The difference between the two is slight to the naked eye. What’s clearly visible is the effect all low-hanging full moons have: Shortly after rising, when the Moon is close to the rooftops or treetops, it looks enormous. It’s an optical illusion, but a beautiful one.

Full moon in Gemini: the astrological meaning

A full moon in Gemini brings conversations, messages, and thoughts to the surface, while the Sun in Sagittarius asks about the bigger picture. The Gemini/Sagittarius axis raises the question of how facts and meaning fit together: What do I know, and what do I believe?

Gemini is associated with language, curiosity, neighbors, siblings, and the everyday life of the mind. Sagittarius is associated with beliefs, travel, teaching and learning, and broad horizons. This full moon reveals where the two diverge: Where you talk a lot without meaning what you say, or where you hold strong convictions without looking more closely. It’s a good time to have a conversation that’s long overdue.

What makes this full moon special?

Two things. First, at the full moon, the Moon is only a little over one degree from Uranus, which has been moving through the early degrees of Gemini since spring 2026. The Moon and Uranus together are considered unpredictable: sudden insights, unexpected messages, and a desire for freedom and fresh air. It’s a full moon when sitting still may be difficult.

Second, it’s the first full moon in weeks with Mercury and Venus moving forward again. Venus was retrograde until 14 November, and Mercury until 13 November. Anything left unresolved in relationships and conversations during October and the first half of November can now be cleared up. Find out more in Venus Retrograde 2026 and Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio. Mars and Jupiter are also still close together at the end of Leo: lots of energy and confidence, and sometimes a little too much speed.

What does the Beaver Moon mean for you?

People with the Sun, Moon, or Ascendant in Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, or Pisces, the four mutable signs, are likely to feel this full moon most strongly. For everyone else, it depends on which house the Gemini/Sagittarius axis falls in on their birth chart: For some, it’s about siblings and neighbors, while for others, it may involve a trip, a course of study, or a career decision.

Three ideas for the night of the full moon

  • Watch the Moon rise. On 24 November, look northeast around 3:30 p.m., ideally from a hill or an open field. The Moon will rise over the horizon, looking huge and orange.
  • Have a conversation. Gemini is the sign of communication. If there’s something you’ve wanted to say for weeks, this evening is a good time to say it.
  • Make room for the unexpected. The Moon and Uranus together love a detour. Take a spontaneous side trip or call someone you haven’t thought of in a long time.
