A lunar calendar for 2027 shows at a glance when the Moon is full, when it is new, and which zodiac sign it occupies at each moment. That is exactly what you will find here: all 12 full moons and 13 new moons of 2027, astronomically calculated and given in German time (CET/CEST). You will also find the highlights of the year, above all the great solar eclipse in August.
In astrological tradition, the new moon is the moment of beginnings: the sky is dark, and the stage is clear for intentions. The full moon is the peak of the cycle: the Sun and Moon stand exactly opposite each other, and whatever began roughly two weeks earlier comes into full light. The zodiac sign the Moon occupies gives each moment its particular quality.

The highlight: the total solar eclipse on 2 August 2027
The Leo new moon on 2 August 2027 is also a total solar eclipse, with an exceptionally long totality that sweeps across southern Spain, North Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula. From Germany, the eclipse is visible as a partial event (protective glasses required!). Earlier in the year, the new moon on 6 February brings an annular solar eclipse, though that one is visible only over the South Atlantic and parts of Africa. In addition, 2027 brings several penumbral lunar eclipses, which are barely perceptible to the naked eye.
In astrological tradition, eclipse new moons are seen as intensified new beginnings: themes that start at an eclipse often carry further than ordinary monthly cycles. This is an image for reflection, not an event to fear.
How to use this 2027 lunar calendar
- New moon: a good moment to slow down and set an intention. The sign sets the tone: the Cancer new moon in July invites themes of home and closeness, while the Libra new moon in September calls for clarity in relationships.
- Full moon: a time of visibility. What has grown since the new moon wants to be seen, including what has run its course and is ready to be released.
- No superstition required: the lunar calendar is a rhythm for self-reflection, not a prediction. Take what resonates with you.
